On November 1st, my friend Sara will be running the New York City Marathon with her friends at Spring Mountain Capital, LP to raise a total of $26,285. Running 26.2 miles may seem like pure torture, but on top of fulfilling this dream, she will be running for The Robin Hood Foundation, one of New York’s leading organizations helping those in poverty.
Statistics that Robin Hood is trying to improve:
* 55% of all babies born in the City – our neighbors – are born into poverty.
* 40% of NYC public school students don’t graduate on time.
* Tonight, 35,000 New Yorkers will sleep in shelters; 15,000 of them are children.
With your help, Sara hope to reach her personal goal of raising $5,000 for the Foundation, which gives 100% of every donation directly to programs helping those who are less fortunate. As you may know, Robin Hood targets poverty in NYC by finding, funding and partnering with 200 of the city’s most effective anti-poverty programs and schools. Robin Hood’s board of directors underwrites all fundraising and administrative costs- which means every penny of every donation goes directly to the best poverty-fighting programs in the city.
Any amount donated would be much appreciated. When we are all on board to support such a notable charity, every dollar counts and everyone benefits.
Please visit Sara’s site here to make a contribution:

The Walking Men WorldWide installation is scheduled to make its first public debut in the heart of New York City’s downtown, on the site of the upcoming tallest residential building in NY. The Installation, put together with the support of the Alliance for Downtown New York, will surround the site of a prestigious international hotel located on Church street. This public installation aims to collect and display over one hundred life size figures to be assembled and composed side by side, and will remain on display through 2011, at the center of lower Manhattan where lower TriBeCa and the Financial District meet.
We welcome photographers from different cities to submit their images through this website, and help the community grow by inviting their own friends to join.
For more information on the installation go to: http://mayabarkai.com/walkingmenww/

This weekend marked the 40th anniversary of Woodstock. On Thursday, August 13th, The Morrison Hotel Gallery held an event celebrating Woodstock’s Anniversary. Official festival photographer, Henry Diltz and festival producer, Michael Lang were both there to sign The Woodstock Experience, a limited edition double book set with text by Lang and photos by Diltz. The book isn’t just a book, it’s an incredible collection of pictures, text and memories. They featured original photographs from Woodstock, many taken by Diltz at The Morrison Hotel Gallery.
