Williamsburg is good for 3 things: music, hipsters & a view of NYC

August 31st, 2009

Born and raised in NYC and can count on my fingers and toes the number of times I’ve been to Brooklyn (and more than half of them were for shows). Two of the times were the past two Sundays (and only one stop on the L train away from my apt). The Pool Parties at The Williamsburg Waterfront. Last week was GirlTalk (and some other dj’s/guys that didn’t do it for me) and this week was vega, Beach House & GrizzlyBear. This was my 3rd GirlTalk show and such a different atmosphere than the past two and yet equally as fun! Grizzly Bear is one of my favorites and they put on such a fantastic show. I had never heard of Beach House until The Pool Parties and just downloaded their music, they were great.

The scene at the pool parties is hipsters in American Apparel and ridiculously bright colors and 80s gear. THE ultimate people watching spot, overlooking the Manhattan skyline and an afternoon with awesome music. What more can you want? Celebrity sightings? They have that too! (Chuck Schumer, Beyonce & JayZ, Mischa Barton and even spotted Erin from “hit” TV show, The City were all at the last pool party!). This Sunday was the last of The Pool Parties but check out their website here and follow them on twitter here for next summer!
